Solid sodium formate. Same HCOONa, same CAS 141-53-7 — but in dry crystalline form, white powder or granules, purity ranging 92% to 98%. This is the format you want if shipping efficiency matters, if you're stocking bulk inventory, or if you need the flexibility to dissolve it on-site at whatever concentration your process calls for. Why pay to ship water when you can add it at the point of use?
The purity ladder: 92%, 95%, 97%, 98%. The higher you go, the tighter the impurity profile. Moisture runs under 1.5% for the 98% grade, under 3.0% for 92%. Chloride content: max 0.2% at 98%, max 1.0% at 92%. A 10% solution lands at pH 7.5–9.5. Bulk density: 1.2–1.4 g/cm³. Shelf life: 12 months in original sealed packaging. Comes in 25 kg PP woven bags with PE liners or 1000 kg FIBC jumbo bags. Custom packaging configurations are available if your logistics setup needs something specific.
The usage picture: Chemical plants convert it into formic acid (acidification route), oxalic acid, and sodium hydrosulfite. Oilfield operations dissolve it on location to make solid-free, high-density completion fluids — shale stabilization, reservoir protection, no solids issues. The ability to mix at exactly your target concentration gives drilling engineers a lot more flexibility than being locked into a pre-diluted spec. Tanneries count on it as a masking agent for chrome tanning — controls the cross-linking, keeps leather quality uniform across the hide. Construction runs it as a winter concrete antifreeze and early-strength booster that accelerates set time without hurting final compression strength numbers.
What actually separates 92% from 98%? The 98% grade runs lower on chloride, moisture, and organic impurities. That matters for chrome tanning and chemical synthesis where contaminants throw off reaction yields. 92% handles deicing, construction, and general industrial jobs without issue — no point paying for purity you don't need.
Storage rules: Cool, dry, ventilated, original sealed packaging. Keep it away from moisture, strong acids, and oxidizers. Standard stuff, but hygroscopic materials punish sloppy storage.
Container math: About 22 MT with pallets or 26 MT without in 25 kg bags; 20 MT in jumbo bags. Per 20-footer. Exact numbers shift a bit based on bag dimensions and pallet configuration.
